The construction industry is undergoing a rapid transformation driven by digital technologies. Even though digitalization has disseminated across all aspects of the construction business, there are still few construction companies that are wedged with traditional methods. In such an environment, most business operations are still done manually, which not only hinders the flow of information but also results in unexpected delays and high transaction costs. Today, the top priority for the construction industry is to save time and money – without compromising on safety. The need of the hour is an easy-to-use technology that allows construction companies to share and view up-to-date project progress data both on-field and office while ensuring the safety of employees.
The Finland-based Infrakit, a construction management software provider, exactly fits the bill by delivering an independent, cloud-based platform that allows construction companies to integrate the best tools for each project phase. From CAD systems to surveying equipment and machine control systems, Infrakit centralizes project data and documentation handling and connects all the system. “With our innovative high-tech cloud platform, we aim to help construction companies to improve their construction quality with fewer errors—all culminating in vast cost savings,” says Teemu Kivimäki, CEO of Infrakit.
Infrakit allows real-time project management and quality assurance for all the personnel in infra-construction. Be it chief surveyor, designer, foreman, head of quality control or contractor, all these personnel can manage the entire project from a single location. Infrakit Cloud allows contractors to easily monitor and manage the entire site and office on all PC, laptops, and mobile devices. It is an open platform, where all CAD systems, surveying types of equipment, and machine control systems can be connected. Infrakit allows contractors to manage all project data in their office and then take all the data to field during field visits.
By creating a connection between workstations, heavy machinery, and people, Infrakit digitizes construction sites, brings building process into real-time, shows project progress on a map view from anywhere and anytime. Contractors can easily add to the project information with geo-and design-referenced images, which ensures faster project completion with better quality and at a lower cost.
With Infrakit cloud platform, many big infra-construction companies and municipalities can complete their projects ahead of time. For instance, one of the customers, YIT Rakennus Oy’s project, E18 Hamina-Vaalima, was still in its infancy level when they came across Infrakit’s cloud platform. YIT’s quality manager Jussi Laamanen’s need was to have a single data management platform for the entire project as a means to monitor the work of on-site managers, foreman and surveying staff and for several 3D machines controlled equipment. By deploying Infrakit’s platform, they were able to save time in traveling 34 kilometers for every little mishap on-site as they could now monitor every process from their PC screen or laptop at the office. Infrakit’s photographing feature allowed them to see the project’s progress in real-time. The project was completed ahead of time and significantly cheaper than anticipated.
With a proven track record of significantly delivering its cloud platform in the Europe market, Infrakit plans to improve their solution further to cater to all the needs of the construction industry. “Along with continuing to deliver new and innovative solutions, we also aim to expand geographically in the US East-coast,” concludes Kivimäki.
